Dear Serena Williams,
Finals are next week, and I've had one of the busiest weeks of my life last week with multiple tests, quizzes and projects due every single day. It's been hard as the pressure has been mounting for a while but your letter provided me with inspiration to keep me going not only for mid-term exams but to always keep me going. You've been working non-stop since you were three years old to accomplish everything you have so far so there's no excuse for me to stop either.
You've been an inspiration for girls all over the world, wanting not to be the best female tennis player, but the best tennis player of all time. Your strength both mentally and physically has shown us all that we can and that we will not be stopped. Throughout it all, your beauty -- both inside and out -- has always shown through. You've been a trailblazer for all of us and you should know that we appreciate you greatly. To me, you already are the best, and now we just have to wait for the rest of the world to hop onboard.
What you wrote is absolutely true, many times girls aren't supported enough because we have more barriers in our way but you've consistently shown me that with hard work and dedication, I will be able to succeed and I will be able to fulfill all of my dreams one day. Many times, I have felt unfortunate to be a girl in such a male dominated world but you have reminded me that it is the reason for my fight and it is what will push me to succeed. My flaws are what will make my strengths even stronger and will be the reason I work even harder.
Serena, my promise to you is that I will push for greatness, I will follow my dreams with steadfast resilience, I will continue to dream big, and most of all I will push my very hardest to empower the next generation of women to be bold in their pursuits just as you have.
With much love and admiration,
