It's been two weeks since summer break has ended and I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised by my year so far. Almost all of my teachers seem nice and friendly as well as knowledgeable about the subject they're teaching and aren't overly strict. I've made new friends already and am not alone in any of my classes. All the seniors predicted this year would be hell, but so far it's pretty normal. I know that we haven't really started all the projects and tests yet, but I cant help but feel that they were being a bit melodramatic going into their last year of high school.
This year, I tried a new organizational method (that I should have implemented years ago) with color coded folders and journals for each class instead of lugging around a huge three inch binder stuffed full of papers along with my journals. It has been a huge success and I'm carrying around so much less stuff than I used to (lighter backpack -- yay!). Overall, I'm pretty excited for this year and I hope I'll be able to bring up my grades to become ranked.
I feel like school just started yesterday, and I can't believe homecoming is at the end of this month! The cowbells on everyone's mums and garters do get really annoying, but I guess I'm the only person who wouldn't want everyone to hear me walking down the hall with a huge mum. I'm definitely not a football person, but the celebratory mood and everyone's excitement around that time of the year is truly infectious. I haven't been to the school hosted homecoming, but last year my friends and I had our own little party which was a ton of fun and that I hope we'll do again this year.
